Mr. Thompson,

We would like to congratulate you and the band for the fantastic halftime performance. We have had 4 children in the Fort Hill band over the past 19 years with our daughter being the last child in the current band. We must say that the 2006 band performances sound and tone are some of the best we've heard.

The Star Spangled Banner is phenomenal. This particular piece that was chosen is beautiful. Each group of musicians i.e. the brass, the woodwinds and the drums sounded strong and confident. We must say it was played better at the first game and sounded a bit weak at this last game but all in all it was still very good. Perhaps there were show time jitters this last game. (smile)

Their halftime performance was wonderful with the music being upbeat, strong and the performance itself was out of this world.  They look very professional and yet they appear to be having fun while performing.

Many hats off to you Mr. Thompson, keep up the fantastic work. You and the band should be proud!

Proud parents of a Fort Hill Marching Band student,

Kathy Mason

Mr. Thompson

I am shocked! This year's performance is unbelievable and outstanding. I do not normally write concerning any performances of my children albeit tap dance, band, art and school work etc… over the years unless I truly feel it deserves the compliment. This year's performance deserves the compliment and much more. You and the kids have worked very hard. I cannot begin to say enough about the Star Spangled Banner, it was very moving. That is the best performance of that particular song in many years.

I heard many positive comments during the halftime show. With the exception of family members attending the football game, these compliments were from strangers who had no idea that we are band parents. I keep quiet and listen (sometimes I learn more that way.....smile)

The Musselman Band was perhaps the most respectful band I have witnessed at a band function with the exception of our band doing the same over the years. They were by far more respectful to the FH Marching band than any Cumberland city/Allegany county school has ever been to the FH band.

You and they should be very proud to march in any event.

Kathy Mason
